What changes the price
- Number of circuits. Each circuit is tested, so more circuits means more time. Each price includes a number of circuits, and extra circuits are charged per circuit.
- More than one consumer unit, outbuildings, or a sub-main to a garage or garden office.
- HMOs and communal areas. More rooms, more circuits and landlord areas to cover.
- Access. Locked rooms, boarded lofts or furniture in front of the consumer unit can mean a return visit.
- Travel. Free within our free travel radius of central Nottingham; beyond that, any travel charge is shown before you pay.
- Out-of-hours visits. Evenings and weekends cost more.
What isn't included
- Remedial work. Quoted separately, item by item, after the inspection. You can use any qualified electrician for it.
- PAT testing, smoke and CO alarm checks, fire alarms and emergency lighting are separate services, which can be booked at the same visit.
Why some quotes are much cheaper
A properly carried out EICR takes several hours for a typical home. Very low prices can mean heavy sampling or a short visit. Before you book anywhere, check what extent of inspection and testing is included, and whether the inspector is registered with a competent person scheme.
